We created Dagaz Consulting to run and manage Straight Jacket Armory with a clear purpose: build on SJA’s foundation and guide the business into a stronger future. We brought the Dagaz rune into SJA’s logo and created a new brand around that commitment.
But the meaning behind Dagaz reaches beyond the business. For our CEO and his family, it connects to their Scandinavian roots and a heritage of making things with care. That spirit extends to the family we have built in our shop.
Why Dagaz?
Dagaz is a rune from the Elder Futhark, an early Germanic writing system. Its historical name means “day.” Modern symbolic interpretations associate it with dawn, breakthrough, and transformation—the arrival of a new day.
That idea captured what we wanted for Straight Jacket Armory: an opportunity to move forward, improve our work, and build something we could be proud to pass on.
Our connection to Dagaz also carries a personal meaning. Alongside renewal and growth, it represents the values we bring to the business: craftsmanship, responsibility, and pride in a job done well.
Scandinavian Roots and a Family Tradition of Craftsmanship
Our CEO’s family has roots in Denmark and Sweden. Many relatives still live there today, carrying the original family name, Qvarnberg.
The family’s history, as passed down through generations, includes Viking shipbuilders—craftspeople whose lives and livelihoods depended on what they could build. Their work required skill, patience, and an understanding that the finished vessel had to serve the people relying on it.
That heritage holds a lasting meaning for the family. Building the best they could was a source of purpose and pride.
Those values carry into Dagaz Consulting and Straight Jacket Armory today. The craft has changed, but the respect for careful work remains. We believe in knowing our craft, paying attention to details, and taking responsibility for what leaves our hands.
For us, that gives Dagaz a deeper meaning. It connects a new beginning with the values handed down through family.
The Company Behind SJA’s Next Chapter
We created Dagaz Consulting to provide the management and direction behind Straight Jacket Armory’s evolution.
That responsibility covers the entire customer experience: the quality of the machining, the clarity of our communication, and the way we manage delivery. Each part matters, and each reflects the care we put into the business.
Our focus has been on making meaningful improvements across those areas:
Better delivery. Improving how work moves through the shop, setting clear expectations, and following through on commitments.
Better customer service. Listening, answering questions, and keeping customers informed throughout their projects.
Better machining. Refining our processes, developing our skills, and improving the quality of the work leaving our shop.
These are ongoing responsibilities. Pride in our work means being willing to examine it honestly and keep finding ways to improve.

When we added the Dagaz rune to SJA’s logo, we gave that story a visible symbol.
The red mark beside the SJA name connects Dagaz Consulting—the company managing the operation—with the brand our customers know. It represents a business that has evolved, changed, and improved, guided by people who care about what they are building.
It also carries our family connection to Scandinavia and the craftsmanship woven into that heritage.
We are giving an ancient rune our own personal and business significance. Its association with a new day speaks to our direction. Our family history gives that direction roots.
Together, those ideas became the foundation of the new SJA brand.
