Action Truing

Action truing may be something you want to consider.  Some factory actions need to be trued (also called blueprinted) before mounting a custom barrel to ensure maximum accuracy and reliability.

So, what does “truing” mean? It’s the process of precisely machining critical surfaces of the action to ensure they’re perfectly aligned. This includes the bolt face, locking lugs, receiver face, and barrel threads. If any of these are out of spec even slightly, it can introduce stress, misalignment, or inconsistent chamber pressure.

Factory actions are mass-produced. That means tolerances are wider to speed up manufacturing. While they may run just fine for hunting or casual shooting, those tiny imperfections can affect accuracy when precision matters. A trued action ensures your custom barrel mates perfectly, allowing for even lug contact, better bolt lock-up, and consistent headspacing.

The result? Improved accuracy, smoother cycling, and greater long-term consistency.  Especially under varying loads or environmental conditions. If you’re investing in a high-end barrel, skipping the action work can leave performance on the table.
